One can't kill a German-language record in favor of an English-language master record.
One can't kill Latest Entry records in favor of Successive Entry records. Latest Entry records are still allowed by OCLC.
Steps for Deleting
Mark the inferior copy by inserting a 936 field into the record that reads (in all CAPS) RECORD REPORTED FOR DELETION- USE # <fill in the record to be kept>
Resist all temptation to fix anything on the record you are marking for deletion!
Contact Name: Your name, using the form Lastname, Firstname.
E-mail: Your psu.edu email address
Phone number: Your phone number at your desk.
OCLC number: Write the word, "None." (There is a space farther down the page to report deletions, but OCLC won't accept the form without this blank being filled in.)
Record format: Select "Continuing resources" from the drop-down list.
Desired change, addition, comment, question, or issue (you may use this form to report more than one issue): Leave this blank.
Enter record numbers for duplicates in the boxes below: This is where you enter the record numbers. Put the record number of the record to be kept in the first box of the column labeled "Preferred record." Put the record number of the inferior copy in the first box of the column labeled "Duplicate 1." If you have more than one duplicate record, use the other columns to report them.
When you're finished, click the green button in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen.
Verify that everything you've typed in is correct. If you want a hard copy of your request, it is at this point that you should create a print-out. If you're satisfied with the form, click "Submit." If you need to edit something, click "Back." If you've changed your mind completely, click "Cancel."
