If a User Alerts Display window opens with alerts/notes and all is fine, click OK to close the window.
At the Item ID prompt, enter the barcode for the item upon which you wish to place a hold. Note: If you already had the Call Number/Item record open for that item, the Current search option will show the title information and clicking on it will enter the barcode in the Item ID field.
Click Get Item Information or press Enter.
In the Hold Info section, choose UP-Pat as your Pick up location from the dropdown menu or type it in.
Accept the default NEVER for the expiration.
Leave the Comments box blank. Comments entered here do not display to Cataloging staff in the corresponding bib or call number/item record and Lending staff send recalled books for UP-PATIPPB to the Department or notify CatMarking.
In the Level/Range area of the Place Hold window, choose Copy for the Level.
In the Recall status area of the Place Hold window, choose the appropriate option.
Allow Recall - No notice will be sent to the patron, but, on the book's return, it will be routed to Cataloging/CatMarking and the patron will not be able to renew his/her hold.
No Recall - No notice will be sent to the patron and the patron will be able to renew his/her hold. The item will be routed to Cataloging/CatMarking when the item is returned. Choose this option if you're not in a hurry to recall the item in question.
Recall now (RUSH) - A notice will be immediately generated for the patron who must return the item to the Library within 7 days. Choose this option if you are in a hurry to recall the item.
Click on Make hold first in queue so that you receive the item before someone else who may have a hold placed against it.
Click on Place Hold or press Enter.
A Complete window should appear with your item's title and item id number and options to place other holds, remove/modify the hold just placed or to close the window.
Select the appropriate option.
In the Bib record of all items you have placed a hold against, enter an 019 field notifying whoever receives the recalled item(s) to route it to you. You may also choose to additionally add a Comment in the Call number/Item record of the item(s). These should be deleted once you have received the item(s) in question.
Remove a Hold

Click on the Remove Item Hold Wizard.
At the Item ID prompt, enter the barcode for the item from which you wish to remove a hold. Note: If you already had the Call Number/Item record open for that item, the Current search option will show the title information and clicking on it will enter the barcode in the Item ID field.
Click on Get Item Information or press Enter.
In the List of Holds section, all the Users with Holds placed against the item id of your item will be listed.
Check the box next to the UP-PATIPPB hold (or other appropriate hold) that you previously placed.
Click Remove Holds or press Enter.
Your item should disappear from the List of Holds section.
You have the option to Remove Holds from Another Item or to close the wizard.
Select the appropriate option.
At the time the hold was placed, you should have input an 019 field in the Bib record, and possibly also a Comment in the Vol/Copy record, of all items you placed a hold against to notify whoever received the recalled item(s) to route it to you. These should now be deleted.
Remove User Hold
Click on the Remove User Hold Wizard.
If prompted, enter your department Override code to use the wizard.
At the User ID prompt, type UP-PATIPPB.
Click on Get User Information or press Enter.
In the List of Holds section, all the titles with holds currently placed against the UP-PATIPPB User ID should appear.
Check the box next to the title for your item.
Click Remove Holds or press Enter.
Your title/item should disappear from the List of Holds section.
You have the option to Remove Holds on the other title that may be listed, Remove Holds for Another User or to close the wizard.
Select the appropriate option.
At the time the hold was placed, you should have input an 019 field in the Bib record, and possibly also a Comment in the Vol/Copy record, of all items you placed a hold against to notify whoever received the recalled item(s) to route it to you. These should now be deleted.
