This course guide on information resources on South Korea provides information for AEE 499a/ALS 490 students. Call numbers and links refer to the University Libraries at PSU.

Background Note: South Korea provides quick basic information on South Korea.

    This book was created for diplomats and other government officials going to South Korea. It provides excellant historical background information, but other resources must be consulted for current events. Use the Gale Virtual Reference Library to find more recent information.

Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the USA provides information for travelers and current events in the Korea Today section.

Encyclopedias

  • Gale Virtual Reference Library has encyclopedias in many, many subject areas.
  • Worldmark Encyclopedia of the Nations has a good overview of each country.
  • Worldmark Encyclopedia of National Economies is an overview of current and historical economic develoment of foreign nations.                                
  • Political Risk Yearbook is a lengthy analysis of a country's political and economic climate and risks.                                                        
  • Political Handbook of the World is an annual survey of government, regional issues, and international organizations.
  • Political Parties of the World is a country-by-country look at the major political parties.
  • Countries and their Cultures is a four-volume encyclopedia that focuses on cultures and countries around the world, specifically what is and is not shared culturally by the people who live in a particular country. Entries contain descriptive summaries of the country in question, including demographic, historical, cultural, economic, religious and political information.
