Review your syllabus for topic ideas
Use Bibliographies to locate information in books, journals, magazines, newspapers, etc. To locate a bibliography on your topic try a keyword search in The CAT (Penn State Libraries' online catalog) using your keywords and the word bibliography.
Example: In Quick Search or Advanced Search, enter Malcolm X bibliography, African American leadership bibliography, etc.
In Advanced Search you can narrow your search to books, video materials, or other formats.
Browse selected articles about Malcolm X [a section in the Social Sciences Library research guide: Malcolm X : Selected Resources].
Discuss your topic with your instructor or librarian.
List keywords, synonyms, and other terms related to your topic to use when researching databases.
