Books and Journal Articles

  • LionSearch — Search across multiple databases and The CAT for books and journal articles.

Books

Journal Articles

There are two distinct ways to search for journal articles

  1. Within a database where you search the full text of the article. This is most useful when you are searching for very narrow topics.
  2. Within an index where you are searching abstracts of articles rather than the full text. This is particularly useful when you have broader topics. These indexes will still link you to the full text.

Full-text Articles

There are two good databases with full-text law review articles.

Indexes (with links to full text)

These indexes cover various disciplines including law, business, and sports.

Primary Sources

Primary Law Sources

Primary law sources are the statutes, regulations, and court cases that come from the federal and state legislatures and courts.

  • LexisNexis Academic
Penn State Libraries' primary resource for both federal and state statutes and for court cases from all federal and state courts.

  • LoislawConnect
an alternative to LexisNexis, it doesn't have the depth of content but it has a strong collection of statutes from all states and can be easier to read and print than LexisNexis.
