In an era of ever-tightening budgets, private investment is more critical than ever. The University Libraries subscribe to more than 118,000 online journals and databases, log more than 2.2 million visits to the Paterno Library and Pattee Library annually, and added 103,000 books to our 5.4 million volumes last year alone. And, thanks to investments in technology, we provide these many resources not only to students on our University Park campus, but to more than 50,000 additional students attending our Commonwealth and World Campuses.

Penn State students and faculty have always benefitted from our strong library collections and services. Likewise, the Libraries have always benefitted from the philanthropic commitment of our alumni and friends, from Andrew Carnegie to Sue and Joe Paterno. Your support helps ensure that we continue to rank as one of North America’s top 10 research libraries. We can’t do it without you.

As students returned in January for spring semester, they began to use the Tombros and McWhirter Knowledge Commons in Pattee Library—an innovative collaboration between Penn State's University Libraries and Information Technology Services. The Knowledge Commons are a perfect example of how the philanthropy is literally transforming our Libraries.

Naming opportunities can be seen here resources.libraries.psu.edu/web/knowledgecommons.
