Daniel Mack, the Tombros Librarian for Classic and Ancient Mediterranean Studies and Head George and Sherry Middlemas Arts and Humanities Library, holds the newest endowed position at University Libraries. Daniel has been at University Park Libraries for twelve years, taking on the Tombros endowed position in February of 2010.

The newly endowed position has transformed Daniel’s work and responsibilities in various ways. Daniel commented on the unique resources available to those in endowed positions, in addition to the projects and programs the endowment supports. The endowment gift money has allowed for Daniel to travel to Rome for research, book buying, and attending conferences. The gift money has also supported a Graduate Assistant position in the Ancient History program to identify material in Ancient Greek and Classical History. The newest initiative supported by the endowment is dedicated to the Tombros Graduate Lecture Series on the Ancient Mediterranean World, during which high level graduate students present original research to the academic community. The lecture series is an annual series, currently in its second year. The overall support from the endowment has allowed for continued support to students, ensuring the continuation of the Libraries overall mission supporting students and faculty.
