Although officially a Vincent Kling project, the Undergraduate Library was designed for the Kling firm by Hajjar. Hajjar and Kling were student buddies at MIT along with internationally known architect I. M. Pei. Hajjar remained at his home in State College while working on the project.
There are many design features from Hajjar's homes used in the Library, such as the stair railing and landing light fixtures. The arched red brick is reminiscent of his own home. Other touches include an intimate seating area off of the main reading room.
Main work area is open and brightly lighted.
This conversation area is a typical Hajjar touch.
The stairwell design is similar to many Hajjar homes.
