University Libraries Diversity Award
The purpose of the Penn State University Libraries Diversity Award is to recognize individuals and teams that have evidenced extraordinary commitment and/or contributions to enhancing our environment of mutual respect for differing backgrounds and points of view.
A member of the faculty or staff who has held full- or part-time employment for at least one year in the University Libraries, or a unit within the Libraries (departments, subject or campus libraries, committees, teams etc.) are eligible.
The nominee(s) must have championed the causes of diversity and climate in the University Libraries.
The Diversity Awards will recognize outstanding accomplishments and general impact in any of the following areas affecting diversity or climate (A Framework to Foster Diversity at Penn State 2010-15, Seven Challenges):
By Friday, March 30, 2012, please submit a nomination form and supporting documents to John Meier, 201 Davey Lab. Brevity and clarity are important. In addition to the nomination form 1 to 3 letters of support should be included. All letters of support should be limited to no more than one page. Additional materials (program brochures, flyers, press clippings, etc.) are encouraged and do not count in the one page limit. Nominators must notify persons they intend to nominate for this award. Nominees must agree to be available to attend the awards ceremony.
A Selection Committee appointed by the Dean will select the recipient(s) based on the above criteria. Awardee(s) will be notified of the award decision during April. Recipients will be honored at an award ceremony and reception in the Charles W. Mann, Jr. Assembly Room, 103 Paterno Library on Friday, May 18, 2012, from 2:30–3:30 p.m.
