Great Valley Instructional Design
The Library houses the Penn State Great Valley Instructional Design Center. The Center offers advice and assistance in designing courses and coursework for innovative teaching.
The Instructional Designer is responsible for faculty development in the use of instructional technology software tools to meet instructional goals. Penn State Great Valley's Instructional Designer works with faculty to convert a targeted area of instruction into a more technology-based delivery system. This could mean creating a multimedia program using a variety of text, graphic, audio, or video resources or creating Web pages to allow students remote access to information. The creation of entire courses for delivery via the World Wide Web or Conferencing Software are additional possibilities.
The Faculty Development Lab is part of the Instructional Design Center and is housed in the Library. It includes a Media 100 non-linear editing system and both Mac and PC multimedia development stations. End products are in the form of presentation or self-paced instructional programs, videotapes, print material, or transparencies.
Anyone who has an idea or questions about how technology could work for them is invited to contact our Instructional Designer Julie Meyer via e-mail at jmm49@psu.edu or call 610-648-3358.
