"Using Assessment Tools for Collection Development and Management"

Join a panel of Libraries faculty as they discuss the assessment tools they utilize to make decisions about collection development and management. Panelists include Nan Butkovich, Bernadette Lear, Linda Musser, and Eric Novotny. Discussion topics will include best practices for serials review and procedures for selecting periodicals for cancellation or books for withdrawal or storage. There will be time for discussion and Q&A. This event is co-sponsored by the Collection Development Council.

9:00 – 9:10 a.m.        Welcome, introduction, and overview
9:10 – 10:25 a.m.      Assessment activities for monographic materials
10:25 – 10:30 a.m.    Break
10:30 – 11:30 a.m.    Assessment activities for subscription materials (serials/databases/etc.)
11:30 a.m. – Noon    Other assessment activities for collections; brainstorming; and wrap-up
