CMS Author Expert Team

Charge

The CMS Author Expert Team will be comprised of CMS publishers who demonstrate expertise in the CMS environment and who hold publish accounts.  The purpose of this team is to assume ownership of the CMS author environment by testing new and revised CMS components releases, etc. and providing feedback to the CMS developers, pilot new training material, serve as floaters during training sessions and serve as mentors to other authors.

 

Reporting Structure

  • The CMS Author Expert Team reports to the CMS team (CMS team reports to IT Strategies and includes representation on the Web Steering Committee)
  • A representative from CMS team serves as an ex officio member of the CMS Team for continuity of communication
  • The CMS Author Expert Team will provide regular updates to the CMS Team.
 

Assessment

The CMS Author Expert Team will assess their work at the end of the year and make recommendations on next steps for the Team. This assessment will be in the form of a brief written report submitted to the CMS Team.

 

Terms of Appointment

  • Members will serve one year terms with the option for reappointment. Each term begins on July 1st.
  • Leadership will consist of the Incoming Chair, Chair, and Past Chair for continuity. The incoming chair will be appointed annually.
 

Agenda for 2011/12

  • Assess all CMS authors on the following: satisfaction with the CMS authoring environment, confidence in their authoring skills, suggestions for improvement in tools, functionality, communication, training, etc.  Present report to CMS Team by 9/1/11.
  • Develop account request process in collaboration with CMS trainer and developers (due 9/1/11).
  • Explore Author Expert Team recommendations from 2010/11, collaborate with CMS team on implementation
  • Participate in CMS development cycle by testing new or changed components and providing feedback to CMS Team
  • Identify new authoring features in new releases and make implementation recommendations to CMS Team
  • Collaborate with CMS Team to implement Workflows if necessary
  • Formalize Author Expert Team/CMS Training partnership
    • AET member(s) float in CMS training
    • CMS trainer to pilots new training materials  with AET
    • Communication plan between CMS trainer and AET
    • Further develop a system to mentor new authors and newly retrained authors
  • Participate in planning and presentation of Author Forums, interview articles, and other methods of communicating with authors
