Edit & Preview Modes

The row of icons at the bottom of the Sidekick are used to switch modes for working with the pages.  The following modes are available to CQ Publishers and Authors:

  • Edit Mode: This is the default mode and allows you to edit the page, adding or deleting components and making other changes.
  • Preview Mode: This mode allows you to preview the page as if it were appearing on your website in its final form. The Sidekick is minimized; you must click the arrow on the sidekick to return to Edit Mode.

Note: If the sidekick will not expand, grab the bottom corner of the sidekick and drag it down.  This happens occasionly when the sidekick goes into collapsed mode

Creating, Comparing, and Restoring Page Versions

Versioning creates a "snapshot" of a page at a specific point in time. With versioning, you can perform the following actions:

  • Create a version of the page.
  • Compare the current version of the page with a previous version: texts, titles and images that have been added or deleted are marked with a specific style.
  • Restore the page to a previous version; for example, to undo a change that you made to a page.
