The Penn State Harrisburg Library offers a wide array of course-integrated instruction, research workshops, and library tours.

Faculty who are interested in scheduling course-integrated instruction can contact one of the library's subject specialists.

The library will offer the following research workshops during the spring 2011 semester. Each workshop will take place in library instruction room 106. The schedule of research workshop sessions will also be available on the Library Calendar.

Introduction to Research Resources, with Bernadette A. Lear

  • Wednesday, February 2, 5:00-5:50 p.m., and Tuesday, March 16, 12:30-1:20 p.m. (repeat sessions).
  • Do you have a paper or presentation due? Not sure where to find good resources? Are you hoping to find them fast? If so, let the library help. This workshop will show you where to find solid information, including books (through the library catalog), journal articles (through ProQuest), and the Internet.

RefWorks: Getting Started, with Eric P. Delozier

  • Thursday, February 10, 1:00-1:50 p.m.
  • This workshop introduces attendees to the RefWorks bibliography (reference) management software. Topics to be covered include: signing onto RefWorks; adding references to a RefWorks folder; and creating a simple bibliography according to a publication style, e.g., APA. No prior knowledge about RefWorks is required.

The Whole Wheat Enchilada: Using Library and Online Resources to Learn More About Healthy Eating and Living, with Heidi N. Abbey

  • Tuesday, April 5, 12:30-1:20 p.m., and Wednesday, April 6, 3:30-4:20 p.m. (repeat sessions).
  • This library workshop is intended for those students who are required to read Michael Pollan's New York Times best seller, The Omnivore's Dilemma, and who would like to learn more about adopting healthy eating habits, selecting and eating whole/organic foods, and living a "locavore" lifestyle.
