Special Services
Article DeliveryFaculty and staff can request electronic copies of articles from the print journal collections from any Penn State Library location, including your own local campus library.
To request an article, follow these steps:
- Login to ILLiad
- On left menu bar go to "Request Items Owned by Penn State Libraries"
- Select "Article"
To expedite delivery, include a call number and select the library location of the journal from the drop-down box at "Where does the CAT say the journal is located?" Your article request will be automatically directed to staff at that location. A link to "Search the CAT" is available to verify call number and library location.
Articles will be posted under Electronically Received Articles on the Main Menu screen of your ILLiad account.
ILL Purchase Express purchases books requested through Interlibrary Loan and adds them to the Libraries' permanent collection after the user's loan period.
Book requests meeting established criteria are ordered from a book vendor within 24 hours. Expected delivery of the book from the vendor is within 6 working days. Once the book is received, it is rush-processed and sent to the pickup location identified in your ILLiad profile. An email is sent to you when the book is available for pickup. You will have the book for the standard Penn State Libraries loan period, such as semester loan for faculty, staff and graduate students.
This service is available for current Penn State faculty, staff and students. You will be notified via email if your book request is a possible purchase and was forwarded to Serials and Acquisitions Services. If the book cannot be received within 6 working days from a vendor, the the book is requested and supplied through Interlibrary Loan.

If you have any problems with your Inside account or password, or if you wish to request additional funds on your account, please use the Ask! button on the right hand side of this page.
