I-Tech Services and Projects

I-Tech's role in Libraries IT is to provide

  • leadership in the use and adoption of computer technology for the Libraries
  • support for enterprise software systems used by the Libraries to support access to library resources
  • operations support to the Libraries employees through lifiecycle, helpdesk, training and IT communication
  • project management, organization and research for technology projects
To accomplish these services I-Tech collaborates with Digital Library Technologies, other IT units at Penn State, vendors, etc.

 

Core Library Application Support

Provide System Administration, Operations Support,  Development, Integration with other services, Management, Analysis and Process Improvement for:

  • SirsiDynix products: Symphony, The CAT, Workflows, Director’s Station
  • ExLibris products: Metalib/SFX, X Server, MarcIT
  • Discovery system (next generation catalog interface)
  • Digital Library platforms (CONTENTdm, DPubS, Olive)
  • Survey software
  • Library LDAP
 

Department Administration & Operations

  • Project and portfolio management
  • Technology initiatives
 

Digital Library Support

  • Web entry point design, development and implementation
  • API for discovery and display of digital library content
  • Integration of digital collections with institutional repository
 

Library Data & Statistics Support

  • Data mining
  • Report generation from local and enterprise systems
  • Instruction on discovery and analysis tools
  • Data migration and transformation
  • Ensure interoperability with internal/external data sources
 

Library Operation Support

  • Lifecycle (hardware specifications, software, image testing)
  • Non-standard software
  • Non-standard software inventory

  • Equipment loans to employees (laptops, ipods, etc.)
