Background
As part of the National Preservation Program for Agriculture Literature, Penn State participated in a NEH grant to identify and preserve the most important historical literature on agriculture and rural life in Pennsylvania published between 1820 and 1945.
To accompany that project, the Libraries developed an essay on the general history of agriculture in Pennsylvania. To identify the material, the Libraries completed extensive searching of Penn State's online library catalog The CAT and OCLC's WorldCat, as well as bibliographic sources from the time.
