Reference and Information: The Life Sciences Library has traditionally had a strong commitment to reference service, that is helping library users find the information they need. Personnel are available at all hours the library is open to assist library users in their search for information. Librarians are available during weekdays, Monday through Thursday evenings, and Sunday evenings. Information is also provided over the telephone from our Service Desk by calling 814-865-7056 or through instant messaging. For in depth reference help in a particular area, contact the appropriate subject librarian.
Acquisitions: Suggestions for the acquisition of new books and journals are welcome. You can drop them off at the Reference Desk, send them to us at 408 Paterno, or send an e-mail to the appropriate subject librarian.
Instruction: Orientation sessions are held at the beginning of each semester. Faculty may also contact the appropriate subject librarian for course-related instruction designed to meet the needs of a specific class or group.
Interlibrary Loan: Access to library materials not held by the PSU Libraries is available, through Interlibrary Loan, to faculty, graduate students, undergraduates and University Scholars.
Network Printing: Life Sciences Library users can print report-quality pages from the Library Workstations using the Classroom and Lab Computing Printing Services. Information about this service is available at the Classroom and Lab Computing - Printing Services page.
Photocopying: All public photocopiers in the library accept coins and LionCash+. Copies cost 15 cents per page.
ID+ Cards & LionCash+ Cards: Students, faculty, and staff can add monetary value to the LionCash+ account on their ID+ card online. at the Card Value Machines at various locations in the libraries and around campus. Visitors to Penn State may purchase a LionCash+ Card at any of the Card Value Machines (Pattee Library - Central Desk (1st Floor), Paterno Library - 5th Floor.) for $1 and add value to it. LionCash+ Department Copier Cards are available from the ID+ Office in the HUB.
