GPS Check Out Policies

Our GPS units may be checked out by Penn State students, staff, and faculty, for a week.  Patrons will receive a brief orientation to the GPS unit at the time of check out.

New at the Penn State Maps Library!

We have three handheld Garmin Oregon 450 GPS units available for check out.  The Oregon 450 is easy to use, with a color touchscreen, electronic compass, barometric altimeter, and base maps already loaded.

With the Oregon 450, you can collect up to 2,000 waypoints and 200 routes, navigate between locations, or go geocaching.  Data are easily transferred to your computer, ready to use, with an accuracy typically between 3 - 5 meters.

(Note: These units are handheld devices, not meant for dashboard navigation in a vehicle.)
