October 22: Libraries present talk on Hinduism


The University Libraries will hold a presentation titled "Hinduism: Principles, Beliefs, Traditions, and Practices," on October 22, from 10 – 11:30 a.m., in Foster Auditorium, 101 Pattee Library. It is being held in conjunction with the Hindu festival of Diwali, which this year falls on October 17.

This event is organized by the University Libraries Diversity Committee as part of its Religion and Culture Speaker Series. Presenter Anil Kulkarni, Penn State professor of mechanical engineering, will talk about the religion and take questions from the audience. This event will also be available for viewing online, through MediaSite Live.

The University Libraries Diversity Committee works to educate and interest the Penn State community in diversity. Its purpose is to promote a positive attitude toward diversity and inclusion within the University Libraries and to create and maintain a welcoming and respectful environment for all library employees and patrons. The committee includes library faculty, staff and representatives from all Penn State locations. It is has an ongoing, active role in performing climate assessment, crafting the Strategic Plan for Fostering Diversity in the University Libraries, promoting the Framework for Fostering Diversity at Penn State, and recommending policies and programs on diversity and inclusion within the University Libraries.
