Getting Started in the Chemical Literature
Need to get information? Not sure where or how to start? This is a good place to start.
(This assumes that you're already familiar with multi-disciplinary resources used in the first year classes. A good general introduction is available at the Information Literacy and You website.)
First, what is it that you need? An article? A definition or overview of topic? A patent? A physical, chemical or thermodynamic property value for a particular chemical? Spectral data? Something else? Other topics include: Finding CAS Registry Numbers and Finding Abbreviations.
Each of these types of questions require different types of resources. Some of it will be on the Web, but not everything on the Web is reliable.
And finally, remember, if you can't find what you're looking for, ASK!
