Video Loan Period Changes
The PAMS Library will close at 5pm on Saturday, 5 March. This will allow work crews to install new furniture, move and install shelving, move journal and reference collections, and install light fixtures in the newly completed second phase of our multiphase project.
When we reopen at noon on Sunday, 13 March, the side of the library facing Chandlee Lab will be open for use. This area will provide some quiet study space as well as house the bound journals collection and the reference collection. At the same time construction will begin on the side facing Osmond Lab.
During the week that we are closed, we realize that some of you may need to have access to parts of the collection. If you do please contact the PAMS Library circulation desk at 865-7617, Nan Butkovich (njb2@psu.edu) at 865-3716, or Bob Seeds to make arrangements to obtain the information that you need. If you have any questions beforehand, please feel free to contact either Nan or Bob.

Science of Synthesis is the new edition of the Houben-Weyl Methods in Organic Chemistry, a major reference work that provides synthetic methods for the preparation of organic chemicals. The original edition began publication in 1909 and covers the organic chemistry literature back to 1835. All editions of Houben-Weyl as well as the E-Series are also included as an electronic backfile within Science of Synthesis. Please note that the earlier editions of Houben-Weyl are in German. We are pleased to announce that the Annual Reviews series are now available online through records in The CAT and through the LIAS A-Z List at http://www.lias.psu.edu/alall.html.
Annual Reviews is a collection of comprehensive critical reviews of the literature in 30 disciplines in the Biomedical, Physical, and Social Sciences. The reviews are written by leading scientists in the fields, and are heavily cited and highly ranked in terms of impact factors. Coverage is back to 1996, and is updated yearly.

The length of time that you can keep a video or CD out has been changed to ONE WEEK for all materials. Heretofore video and CD loan periods varied wildly from location to location; this change will standardize the loan period across all library locations. The new loan period will save everyone a lot of confusion.
You can find videos and CDs through The CAT (the Libraries’ online catalog at (www.libraries.psu.edu) and through the MediaTech catalog (www.medianet.libraries.psu.edu).
This one week loan period applies to items being borrowed from the Libraries. It does not apply to items being placed on course reserve.
