There are committees and teams, as well as departments, at the Libraries that are bridging efforts to steward data and content in a progammatic way at Penn State. See an aggregate of these below.

Table of Library Departments and their purposes
Library Department Purpose/Role
Cataloging and Metadata Services Provides access to resources description, organization, classification, indexing.
Collection Development Assistance with collection purchases, such as data sets.
Digital Library Technologies Leads and advises the libraries on technology resources and services, server storage planning. Supports workstation and network services at the Libraries.
Digitization and Preservation Key center of digital production services. Included is guidance on preservation and conservation issues.
I-Tech (Information Technologies) Responsible for equipment/software support for the Libraries, training, and web and digital library support.
Library Learning Services Focused on course-related instruction, the use of instructional classrooms, research seminars, library tours, and instructional design within the Libraries.
Media & Technology Support Services Film and video equipment, media production labs, information on technology-enabled classroom space, advice on media duplication.
Office of Digital Scholarly Publishing (ODSP)
A joint effort with the Penn State Press, the ODSP publishes several journals online.
Special Collections Library Contains more than 150,000 printed volumes, more than 25 million archival records and manuscripts, and another million photographs, maps, prints, and audio-visual items.
