Intro & Articles and Databases

Do you want to watch movies about Asian Americans, written by Asian Americans, and acted by Asian Americans?  Or read an Asian American classic (or soon-to-be classics)?  Do you need an AA history topic, something that will grab your interests?  Or just an idea to get started?  The Libraries at Penn State can offer you many opportunities to explore Asian America.  During the next few months, we will be creating lists of recommended movies, literary classics, history books, music and many other resources all available at the Libraries at Penn State.  By clicking on any of the below links, you will find treasures that you may not have thought were available here in the middle of Pennsylvania.  Click, discover, and enjoy.

The first offered link is to a list of recommended AA movies.  Please visit the list often because we will be adding more movies as we receive them.  Asian American cinema.

Interested in what AA books began it all?  Please visit this list often because we will be adding more books to it.  Asian American Literature Classics.  And do you want to keep up with all the new AA books and publications?  Try the Asian American Literature Fans. This is a great site for keeping up with the growth of Asian and Asian American literature.

Graphic novels and comics are now an established medium of expressing Asian American themes.  I recommend the webpage of an deserving artist Gene Luen Yang, author of the award winning American Born Chinese and co-author of Eternal Smile at http://geneyang.com.  Also, visit the website of Derek Kirk Kim, a brilliant graphic novelist, at http://www.lowbright.com and Lela Lee's Angry Little Girls at http://www.angrylittlegirls.com/.
