How to Find Guidebooks

Guidebooks provide useful travel tips and tourist information.  Major publishers include Let's Go, Lonely Planet, and Fodor's.

To search for guidebooks in the CAT, type the name of the region and the word "guidebooks" in the search box and select "Subject" from the drop-down menu.

Frommers

Photo Slide Shows present a visual and interactive way to explore destinations or get travel ideas.  A special box for Deals & News helps you to scan the latest blog travel spots.  You can also search trip ideas by type of activites or lifestyle.  Example would be Arts and Culture for Family or Outdoor Adventure for Honeymoon.

Lonely Planet

In the CAT, choose advanced search

Has many articles to intice the traveler to set out on an adventure.  The articles include far away places such as Morocco and Thailand, but also American cities, such as Chicago Denver and Austin.  Also if you search "Free things" there are lists of free attractions in local and international cities.

How to Find Locale Materials

There are many books, CD's, and videos set in a specific country, city, or region. To find these items, search the CAT using country, city, or region name as a subject and the word fiction. For example to find a novel set in the city of Berlin, Germany, type Berlin fiction in the subject area. To find novels set in the Alsace region of France, type Alsace fiction in the subject area.
