The American Association of Retired Persons offers this website as a financial assistance guide. Included are informational links regarding investments, taxation, personal finances, retirement, estate planning, and legislative issues.

ABC News - Business
This site is a business news summary from ABC news. Included are the day's top business news stories and a section for delayed stock quotes.

ABS Stock Market Broadcasts
The Atlantic Broadcasting System offers market updates using RealAudio. Also included is a chat line and regular contributions from investment brokers.

ADR.COM (From J.P. Morgan)
J.P. Morgan provides this Web site for American Depository Receipts (ADRs). Users can search by company name (or browse by first letter in the company name), ticker or CUSIP number, by region or country, or by industry.

ASK Research

BigCharts
This site allows users to find free stock quotes, historical one-day quotes and charts, indexes, company news, and market news.

Blackstocks.com
This site offers advisory services to African American and other minority investors. Included is a ,em>University,/em> section which includes educational investment resources, stock quotes; portfolios, and market news. This site also serves as an online broker service.

Bloomberg
Bloomberg is one of the most recognized companies in the investment arena. This mega site offers stock quotes, portfolios, company news, indices, IPOs, sector stocks, bonds, treasury issues, currency exchanges, current issues of publications, and educational resources.

Bond Market Association
The Bond Market Association "represents securities firms and banks that underwrite, trade and sell debt securities, both domestically and internationally. These debt securities include: Municipal bonds; U.S. Treasury securities; Federal Agency securities; Mortgage and other asset-backed securities, Corporate Debt securities; Money Market instruments; and Repos." Membership is available for any dealer of bonds or other debt securities.

Bonds Online
Bonds Online has a searchable database of over 12,000 bonds. Users select either municipal, corporate, zero-coupon, CMO (collateralized mortgage obligation), or treasury bonds. A Bond Professor link contains educational resources.

BondTrac
Commercial service providing information on municipal, corporate, and government bonds.

BradyNet
This commercial service offers information on bonds, eurobonds, global issues and emerging-markets derivatives. Included are bonds listed by country, yield curves, and links to securities firms. There are also chat rooms for specific countries. Users can subscribe for a free two-week trial.

Bridge
Bridge offers a wide variety of commercial services aimed at the financial community, including Bridge Information Systems, Bridge Trading Company, and BridgeNews. It bills itself as the "largest provider of financial information in North America and the second largest and fastest growing provider in the world." Free information includes stock quotes, company financials, market news, and stock performance information.

Bridge/Commodity Research Bureau
This site offers free current futures quotes, historical charts, and news related to futures and options. This is the site of the Bridge/CRB Futures Index. Users can also view current issues of several publications.

Briefing.com
Briefing.com offers several tiers of services, from free to "Professional." Free services include current stock quotes, portfolios, market news, and sector ratings.

Brill.com (Brill's Mutual Funds Interactive)
Mutual Funds Interactive (MFI) is a highly rated mutual funds site for the individual investor. The site offers free quotes, portfolios, charts, and news stories. Also included are market reports, indices, bond quotes, educational resources, and discussion forums.

Bureau of the Public Debt Online
The Web site for the Bureau of the Public Debt contains searchable areas for savings bonds, including calculators. A "T-Bills, Notes, and Bonds" link contains information about treasury auctions, and a link to TreasuryDirect, a service to buy bills, notes, and bonds directly from the government. There is also a section about the public debt itself, including the total debt and interest information.

BusinessWeek Investor
Business Week Investor offers delayed stock quotes or charts, market news, portfolios, and selected columns from the magazine. Also included are sections on mutual funds, IPOs, investment basics, treasuries, currencies, and commodities.

BusinessWire
The Web site for Business Wire automatically displays the most recent wire stories, but users can also search for stories appearing during the last week (displayed by date), for a given number of hours, or by region or state. Foreign language stories also appear and have a language button at the front of the headline.

CBS MarketWatch
CBS has created a Web site offering the gamut of news stories, financial information, commentary, and data. Users can find stock quotes, company information, SEC filings, mutual fund information, market data, a wide variety of regular columns for various investment topics, and a discussion list. There is also a useful site search feature.

CEO Express
CEO Express is "designed by a busy executive for busy executives". Essentially, this site consists of an enormous number of links divided into the areas of Daily News and Info, ,em>Business Research, All Things Internet, and Tools, Travel and Fun. Each of these sections has a large number of sub-categories. The Business Research section includes categories for Financial Markets, Quotes and Market News, Company Research, SEC Filings, Online Investor Services, International Business, IPOs, and several others.

CNBC
Mega site for financial information operated by the news broadcasting company. In addition to up-to-the-minute news stories, users can find quotes and company reports, build portfolios, research mutual funds and bonds, and participate in discussion forums.

CNNfn: The Financial Network
CNNfn, one of the first financial Web sites offered by a media entity, is also one of the best. The focus is on market news, but the site also offers personal finance services, including stock quotes, portfolios, mutual funds, investing information, currencies, and commodities. Its bond section is also very good, offering rates and information by type of bond.

CRSP (Center for Research in Security Prices)
CRSP contains historical trading data for stocks on the NYSE, AMEX, and NASDAQ. Data is available daily back to 1962 and monthly back to 1925. There is also a new CRSP/Compustat database.

Calvert Group
Online broker specializing is socially responsible investing.

Carlson Online: Canadian Public Company Web Sites
This site has several tiers of services. The free information includes stock and option quotes and charts, market news and statistics, indices, and Canadian and U.S. company information.

Chicago Board of Trade
The Chicago Board of Trade is the world's largest futures and options exchange. Users can find a tremendous amount of information available at this site, especially under the Market Information link which provides information and analysis of the products traded on the exchange. The site also contains a large number of news items related to futures and options.

Chicago Board Options Exchange
The CBOE offers a vast array of information for options investors. Most data is under the Trader's Tools link, including delayed quotes, symbol directory, options calculator, and market information. The site also offers an educational section outlining the options markets for the beginning investor.

Chicago Merchantile Exchange
The CME specializes in futures and options contracts, including currencies, interest rates, indices, and commodities. Free data is available under the Prices link, including daily and weekly charts and some free real-time quotes. There are also links for professional traders and education.

Chicago Stock Exchange
The Chicago Stock Exchange Web site contains a list of all companies traded on the exchange, delayed stock quotes and charts, and options and futures links. The Volume link provides exchange data for the last three years.

Cisco Futures
This is primarily a commercial service offering futures data. Fee-based information includes historical data, tick data, intraday data, and end-of-day data.

Clear Station
Clear Station is an investment advisory Web site offering delayed stock quotes and graphs, portfolios, and educational information. The site also offers a large number of business and market news stories and discussion sections.

Commodity Futures Trading Commission
The Web site of the federal regulatory agency for futures. Included are a number of reports and publications and a link for public information and complaints.

Commodity Resource Corporation
Commodity, futures, and options online brokerage. The site contains a nice chart of quotes and charts arranged by exchange.

Commodity Systems Inc.
Commercial service for commodity investors. Data includes historical data from virtually every commodity exchange in the world as well as daily summary data.

CommodityTrader.net
Commodity Trader is a "free information system dedicated to commodity traders, options traders and stock investors." Data includes free real-time stock indices and CME futures, and delayed stock, futures, and options quotes.

Compustat
Database containing historical fundamental company data. Produced by Standard & Poor's and now available on CD-ROM (PC Plus). See CRSP for information about the CRSP/Compustat database.

ConvertBond.com
Fee based service for convertible bonds and notes.

CorporateInformation
This is a really great free site for finding company information. Users enter a company name or stock symbol and a list of Web sites by subject (including financial information and some historical quotes) is presented. The site states that it has information on over 300,000 public and private U.S. and international companies.

CorpTech
Free database of high tech companies. Users can search by company name, product, executive name, or other variables. Registration is required.

This mega site is an enormous listing of Web links to sites in all areas of finance and investment. Individual links are provided under broad categories including Market Numbers, Market Commentary, News, Earnings, Stock Screens, Mutual Funds, IPOs, and Technology Stocks.

Datastream
Datastream, a Primark company, provides over 25 years worth of international data, including data on stocks, bonds, market indices, futures, options, and exchange rates.

Datek Online
Online broker.

Day Traders Online
This site offers resources for the day trader. Free information includes delayed quotes and charts, company news and profiles, market indices, and links to educational resources.

DecisionPoint.com
DecisionPoint.com provides this site for those "learning or improving technical analysis and stock market timing skills". The site includes a large selection of daily charts and reports (including many indices); historical charts for selected areas (some with information going back to the 1920s); "live" intraday charts; and an advisory section.

Direct Stock Purchase Plan Clearinghouse
This Web site allows users to request free information regarding direct stock purchases. Users can select up to five companies from an alphabetical list.

Dollar Index
The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta offers historical Dollar Index data back to 1973.

Dow Jones
Dow Jones, the well-known provider of business information, offers a lot of free information at this Web site. Users can search a business news database of over 250 publication and retrieve free citations (full-text is available for a fee). The site also offers delayed stock quotes and end of day mutual fund quotes. There are also current market news stories and index quotes.

Dreyfus Funds
Mutual fund company. Provides daily prices of its funds and offers online accounts.

DRIP Investor Homepage
This is the site for the DRIP (Dividend Reinvestment Plans) Newsletter. In addition to the latest issue, the site maintains a list of no-load stocks and a section for commentary regarding DRIPs.

Dun & Bradstreet
Dun & Bradstreet is one of the best-known business information providers. Their home page contains an alphabetical list (and ordering information) of the many products and services available.

E*Trade
Online broker.

EDGAR
The official EDGAR (Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis and Retrieval system) site offered by the SEC. Filings are available for most companies from 1994 (companies were phased in during a three year period ending in 1996).

EDGAR Online
This is a commercial service offering greatly enhanced searching capabilities of SEC filings. Subscribers can perform searches using multiple criteria, can view only certain fields, and also have access to "real-time" SEC filings. There is also a rich text download capability for downloading into word processing programs.

EdgarScan
"EdgarScan is an interface to the SEC EDGAR Filings. EdgarScan pulls filings from the SEC's servers and parses them automatically to find key financial tables and normalize financials to a common format that is comparable across companies. Using hyperlinks we can go directly to specific sections of the filing, including the financial statements, footnotes, extracted financial data and computed ratios." Users can search by company name, SIC, or IPOs.

The Economist
Web counterpart to the print newspaper. Users have access to select articles from the current issues, and registered users (free registration) can search the archive database back to 1995.

Emerging Markets Companion
EMC is a company providing global investment information. It offers free commentary and recent currency and index quotes.

Equis
Equis is a company offering a variety of investment-related software, data, and research tools. The site offers some free information, including stock charts, commentary, an investment calculator, and a list of "hot stocks".

EquityWeb
EquityWeb allows users to find a huge amount of company information by entering a company name. Results are grouped into Web links by categories, including Quotes, Charts, News, Earnings, Filings, Profiles, Financials, and Ratios. Each category contains numerous links.

Euromoney
The Web site to the print publication offers free access to select articles from current and previous issues. Registration required.

FRED - Federal Reserve Economic Data
FRED, at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, provides access to an enormous amount of economic and business data gathered by the federal government.

FastTrack
Online broker aimed at long-term investors in stocks and mutual funds.

Federal Filings Online
Federal Filings, a Dow Jones subsidiary, conducts the "dissemination of market affecting news extracted from complex documents that companies file with the SEC and other federal regulators." The site offers some free news stories.

Federal Reserve Economic Education
Here you can find links to instructional materials and tools that can increase your understanding of the Federal Reserve and economics.

Fidelity Investments
The Web site for perhaps the most well-known mutual fund investment company. This site offers online accounts, information on its funds, and delayed stock quotes.

FinanCenter
FinanCenter offers over 100 calculators to answer personal finance queries regarding investments, mortgages, credit cards, savings, and retirement.

Finance Watch
Finance Watch lists worldwide exchanges, brokers, and quote sites; and educational and training resources related to finance.

Financial Times

Futures Industry Association (FIA)
The FIA is a non-profit educational association providing information about the futures, options, and derivatives markets. The association also provides market data through CD-ROM or disk.

Futures Online
Users can view full-text articles from the current issue and select articles from previous issues of Futures magazine. The site also provides information from the Futures Sourcebook, including a list of worldwide exchanges and brokers.

This site is aimed at socially responsible investing. Included are lists of social funds, company lists, company information, news, and chat rooms.

GreenMoney
This is primarily a resource guide for socially responsible investing. Included are news stories, lists of companies and funds, and articles from GreenMoney Journal.

Guide to Futures and Options Quotations
his site is maintained by Dr. Campbell Harvey, a business professor at Duke University. The page has links for futures, futures options, index options, and equity options. Each has several sub-categories which list data and contract specifications.

Harris InfoOnline
Subscription based Web site equivalent of the popular Harris manufacturing directories.

Holt's Stock Market Reports
Each report includes market indices opening, closing, highs, lows, percent changes, and optionable stocks that have reached new highs and lows and those up more than fifty percent in volume. Each stock covered has a link for a one-year daily chart, a five-day intraday chart, an options report, and a research link. Data is available daily for the last year and monthly since 1995.

Hoover's
The Web site companion to the popular Hoover's series provide a company capsule, selected financial information, including annual and quarterly reports, current quotes, news and analysis, and information about the company's industry. The site also provides market news and IPO Central.

This "Web Center for Futures and Options" offers free delayed quotes and charts, options, news, and discussion forums.

IPO Data Systems
IPO Data Systems provides information on IPOs, including a business description, offering information including price, links to the underwriters, income statement and cash flow summary, balance sheet and financial ratios, and links to legal counsel, registrar and auditor. Users can search by company name or select from a listing of the previous month's IPOs. There is also a section for the top IPOs of the year.

Investext Group
Web site of the well-known fee-based provider of company, market, and trade association information. Research Bank Web is Investext's Web-based product offering full-text investment reports. Investext has over 50,000 full-text investment reports on more than 11,000 public and private companies

Investing In Bonds.Com
This site is primarily educational in nature, with full-text documents related to investing in the bond market. The site also provides data (from the Bond Market Association) of over 100 investment-grade corporate bonds and daily prices of actively traded municipal bonds.

Investment Company Institute
"The Investment Company Institute (ICI) is the national association of the American investment company industry. Founded in 1940, its membership includes 7,521 mutual funds, 447 closed-end funds, and 10 sponsors of unit investment trusts. Its mutual fund members represent more than 73 million individual shareholders and manage more than $6 trillion." Investorwords is a huge financial glossary consisting of over 5,000 entries. Users select by clicking on the first letter(s) of the term. Each definition also provides hypertext links to related terms.

Investor Relations Information Network
IRIN offers free annual reports and company information. By selecting a company, users are given a company capsule, a link to the company's home page, links to PDF versions of recent annual reports, and links to quotes, charts, and investment information.

Investor's Business Daily
Articles from the current issue are available at this site. Also included are nearly 50 educational modules.

Investor's Clearinghouse
Investment education site created by the Alliance for Investor Education. The site is searchable by keyword, or users can select links to educational resources such as Investing Basics, Bonds, or Financial Planning.

Iowa Electronic Markets
Operated by the faculty at the University of Iowa's college of business, this real-money futures market (which began as an educational tool for students) has contracts with payoffs that depend upon the outcome of political and economic events, such as election results. Some markets are only open to academic traders.

iVillage
