Business Meetings and Rules of Parliamentary Procedure

Rules of Procedure

Some organizations, especially large ones, use formal “rules of order” or “rules of parliamentary procedure” to ensure fairness as ideas are presented, discussed, revised, and voted upon. Robert’s Rules of Order is the most commonly used manual, but there are others, including the Standard Code of Parliamentary Procedure (also called “Sturgis,” after its original author), Cannon’s, and more.
