Overview

We are STILL Penn State

The Sandusky sex abuse scandal has turned Penn State upside down and many students are struggling to make sense of recent events.

This research guide is intended to assist students and other researchers investigating various aspects of the scandal for writing assignments or for their own edification. It is not intended to be comprehensive or be an endorsement for any one voice, but to be a springboard to find more information.

Discussion Materials

Primary Sources

Primary source material from the University Archives:

The Penn State University Archives is a collecting unit within the Eberly Family Special Collections Library, which is located on the first floor of the Paterno library building on the University Park campus.

The University Archives is dedicated to documenting the history of Penn State.

We compile biographical vertical files on an ongoing basis -- these contain information and news clippings on Penn State employees such as Joe Paterno, Jerry Sandusky, Graham Spanier, Mike McQueary, Tim Curley, Gary Schultz and Rodney Erickson.

We also house the official Intercollegiate Athletics Football Records for Penn State, thousands of photographs and videos pertaining to Penn State football, and publications such as football yearbooks and media guides.

If you have not used a special collections library before, please note that we are open for fewer hours than some other parts of the library, and that you must use our materials in our reading room. For more information, please visit this brief online tutorial and tour.

Instructions for searching our materials can be found in Special Collections search tips.

For more information, please contact University Archivist Jackie Esposito or Sports Archivist Paul Dzyak.
