Parliaments

Online Resources

  • Parline
A database created by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) that allows you to search for brief information on the parliament of a country and, when available, a link to the Web site for that country's parliament. To read information on a specific country's parliament, select the country from the pull-down menu labelled "Country". You can look at information on all parliaments in Europe by selecting Europe from the pull-down menu labelled "Regions". By selecting Germany, I found out that there are two parliamentary chambers: Deutscher Bundestag and Bundesrat. By clicking on the link for either, I could find out the number of seats, official name, president, address, web site and more.
The IPU also maintains an alphabetical list of web sites for national parliaments, but without the information available through Parline. Select a country from the list to find out if the national parliamenet has a web site. If so, follow the link to that site. For example, by clicking on Germany, I went to a page that listed two Web sites, one for the Bundestag and the Bundesrat.
  • Web Sites on National Parliaments

  • Web Sites of National Parliaments

  • Women in National Parliaments
