More than an Atlas of Civil War maps, this volume presents a personal account of a cartographer, Jedediah Hotchkiss. Included are reproductions of his hand drawn maps of several battles accompanied with stories that explain how Hotchkiss was able to create the maps.

Reproductions of maps with hand written arrows and notes. Hand copied maps. Charts of troop numbers and movements, specific divisions were marked out on a location of a map. Sure would be interesting to know a specific division of an ancestor. Maps that show tanks area of petrol (116,117p) also notes that by Aug 12, 1918 there were only six working tanks left.
