Uneasy about copyright when it comes to your repository’s photographic collections? Need some practical advice? This functional workshop will provide down-to-earth guidance to help you deal with copyright issues relevant to photographic materials in archival and library collections.
During this workshop, you’ll:
Examine appropriate documents such as deeds of gift, loan agreements, copyright notices, etc.
Determine best practices for permissions.
Explore options when information is lacking.
Consider ethical and privacy guidelines for access and use..
Who should attend? Archivists and others whose collections include photographs.

LOGISTICS:
The workshop will be held in the Charles W. Mann Assembly Room (Room 103) in the Paterno Library at The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA.
Lodging is available nearby at the Nittany Lion Inn located at 200 West Park Avenue for $110/Single plus tax by calling 1-800-233-7505. You must give the group identification number: SOCE09A to qualify for this special rate. Reservations received after April 10, 2009 will be based on space availability and may be at a higher rate. Even if you are unsure if you will be able to attend this workshop, we recommend making a reservation at the Nittany Lion Inn as reservations can be cancelled without charge 48 hours prior to your arrival. Be aware that the Nittany Lion Inn is a five minute walk to the library. Note that the Nittany Lion Inn offers a complimentary shuttle service around campus as well as to/from the airport. The closest parking area is the Nittany Parking Deck next door to the Nittany Lion Inn; it is a five minute walk to the library. There is an hourly charge if you are not a guest of the Nittany Lion Inn.
