The Lartz Memorial Library at Penn State Shenango is located in a building that was constructed in the early 1900s. For many years it was a commercial laundry, and then a union hall for local steelworkers. Penn State purchased the building in 1990 for use as the campus library, and began a $2 million renovation of the building.
On Septermber 26, 1996, President Graham Spanier dedicated the newly-renovated library. In recognition of the generosity of Vera Lartz, and her late husband Dr. Robert Lartz, the library was officially named the Lartz Memorial Library in September 1999.
