Community Relations Service (1962-1966)
The Community Relations Service was established within the Department of Commerce by title X of the Civil Rights Act of 1962 (78 Stat. 241; 42 U.S.C. 2000a). The Service was transferred to the Department of Justice (J 23) by Reorganization Plan 1 of 1966 on April 11, 1966.
