Penn State Sports Archive: A/V Materials for Other Sports

A significant portion of the Penn State University Sports Archives is the audio-visual collection. This collection spans the years from the late 1920s to the present. Originally created on film, many of the games/events are now available for viewing on videotape as well. There are several rules and regulations for using the audio-visual collection listed herein.

Viewing items from the collection must be pre-arranged during the Special Collections Library hours: Monday-Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m and Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the fall and spring semesters, and Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m during the summer. You can arrange this by calling 814-865-7931 or e-mailing, Paul Dzyak.

Viewing items from the collection is for educational uses only.

Videotape copies of individual games/events can be ordered for personal, in-home use only. Turn-around time for copying is 10-14 working days from the date of request. Production fees for copying will include the audio-visual dubbing expenses and access costs. Typically, a film to VHS video or DVD transfer costs approximately $35.00 per game/event. Costs are billed upon completion and mailing of the dub.

Commercial uses of Penn State Sports Archives materials must be approved by Sports Information (814-865-1757) and, in some cases, by University Licensing (814-865-0356). Once the use has been approved, a dub will be created within the standard production time frame. RUSH requests can NOT be accommodated. Production costs as well as commercial use fees will be assessed per game. All requests must be referred to Paul Dzyak at the above address.

Copies of "Something for Joey," the docudrama based on John Cappelletti's Heisman trophy award are not available from the University Archives. VHS copies of John Cappelletti delivering his Heisman trophy speech can be ordered from Paul Dzyak at the above address.

Any additional concerns or questions, can be referred to Jackie Esposito, University Archivist, 814-863-3791, 104 Paterno Library, University Park, PA 16802.
