How do I travel to the University Park Campus?
Out-of-town visitors can reach the University Park campus by regularly scheduled major airlines' commuter flights to the University Park Airport (SCE), or by regularly scheduled Greyhound and Fullington bus service. Amtrak service is available at Lewistown, 45 minutes away, but there is no public transit between Lewistown and State College so train travelers must make their own connecting arrangements. Maps and directions for driving, and connections to air and bus carriers are available on the campus maps.
Where can I park?
Public parking is limited on campus. The closest visitor lot is the Nittany Parking Deck, about 5 minutes west of Paterno Library. Visitor parking in metered lots is also available. The visitor parking Web page provides details and maps. Please be aware that parking rules are vigorously enforced; when in doubt, check at a parking kiosk.
Is the Library close to public transit?
Centre Area Transit Authority (CATA), in cooperation with the University, provides ample community bus service along a variety of routes. Many of them stop at Pattee Library and Paterno Library along Curtin Road. Free Loop buses and shuttles can take visitors to downtown State College or to other spots on campus. Orange and white CATA buses travel further out in the community and charge an exact fare. Routes, schedules, and fare information are available on the CATA Web page.
Where can I eat?
MacKinnon's, Pattee Library's coffee shop, serves hot and cold drinks, pastries, sandwiches, soups, and salads. Where can I stay if I am visiting the campus?
The University's two on-campus hotels are described on the Hospitality Services web page. The Nittany Lion Inn is within easy walking distance of Paterno Library and Pattee Library, as are several downtown establishments.
