University Libraries philosophy of applying standards and exceptions
Default policies and standards apply to digital objects. Variances from policy are treated as exceptions. Exceptions are negotiated during the planning of a new project or service and are generally made in consideration of end user requirements, requirements imposed by an aspect of the material itself, opportunities for substantial labor saving in the execution of the project, or for projects approved primarily as software development or research.
