Penn State York’s Lee R. Glatfelter library features expansive windows which bathe the library with natural light while offering spectacular views of Memorial Park, the City of York, and the woods. Comfortable, lounge-type seating is scattered about the library. Additional seating is provided at the many over-sized study carrels, each equipped with task lighting and electricity. The library has its own computer lab.
The Library has in its collections more than 60,000 book titles, about 250 journal and magazine subscriptions, and additional materials in microfilm, video, and CD format. Penn State University patrons, staff, and faculty have electronic access to full text articles contained within over 25,000 journals and newspapers via the Libraries licensed resources. Additionally, through Interlibrary Loan, students are able to borrow materials or obtain photocopies from any of the other Penn State Libraries, which collectively have about 5 million book titles and 30,000 journal subscriptions.
The central resource for locating information in the Library is the Library Information Access System, LIAS. LIAS is an electronic information system that includes the library's catalog of books and numerous databases that provide access to information for a large number of disciplines and interests. LIAS and its databases can be accessed from home.
Members of the York County community are welcome to use the Library and its resources. Community users may obtain borrowing cards by presenting a valid driver's license for verification of identity.
