Training Opportunities

The Arts and Humanities will be offering a series of training sessions this semester. Content is geared toward Arts and Humanities staff, but all Libraries' employees are welcome to attend. Sessions are from 10:00-11:00 a.m. in W211A, the instruction room near the Music and Media Center on the second floor of West Pattee.

October 10

Dan Mack will discuss new online reference works and periodical indexes in ancient history, classical literature, German studies, and religion.

October 17

Eric Novotny and others will highlight new online reference resources including, new titles in the Gale Virtual Reference Library, Oxford African-American Studies Online, and Oxford Reference Online.

November 7

Bill Brockman will demonstrate new databases including British Periodicals and 18th Century Journals Online

November 14

"Finding Statistics for the Humanist" Stephen Woord will provide an overview of basic statistical resources available from the government as well as a brief foray into statistics from gathered from opinion polls.

November 28

U. S. Historical Documents - Eric Novotny

This session will be rescheduled for next semester.

December 5th

"Changes in Art and Architecture Databases & interfaces." Henry Pisciotta will demonstrate some new arts databases and some new interfaces for old ones. Learn how to mix powerful new "database cocktails." Was the demise of the Research Library Group actually good for arts researchers?
