Logon Error Message
If a patron encounters the following error message:
The system could not log you on. Make sure your User name and domain are correct, then type your password again. Letters in passwords must be typed using the correct case.even though s/he is using their correct username and password, check these 2 things:
- domain: should be dce.psu.edu (Kerberos Realm)
- data line plug: if disconnected, reconnect (ask Russ if you're unsure). If the plug is broken, send a Libraries' HelpDesk request and place an "Out of Order" sign on the computer.
Contacting the Libraries’ HelpDesk
Fill out the form as completely as possible
Be sure to include the IP number for the machine that is not functioning
Hint: this number will start with PE2- for machines in the Social Sciences Library.
If a computer has lost its label, you can find the IP number by checking the map in the Desk Manual under "Troubleshooting".
Please cc: Russ (rus3) on all Libraries' HelpDesk requests.
Place an "Out of Order" sign on the computer.
Contacting the ITS HelpDesk
Simply dial 777-0035 and explain the problem to the ITS Desk Attendant.
Place an "Out of Order" sign on the Network Printer.
Contacting Nittany Office Equipment
Dial 8-567-4497
You will hear a recorded voice that says "Please enter your numeric message after the tone".
After the tone, press the equipment number on the telephone keypad (e.g. press 503 to report a problem with the change machine outside Social Sciences).
Hang up the phone.
This will record the equipment number on the pager used by Nittany Office employees to answer requests for help. A Nittany Office Equipment employee will stop by to fix the problem.
Place an "Out of Order" sign on the machine.
