The Brush Valley Association for the Detection and Apprehension of Horse Thieves was organized at a meeting called by Miles Township, Pa., citizens at the public house of S.R. Dubs in Rebersburg on 4 July 1853. Membership was limited to residents of Haines, Penn, Miles and Gregg townships, Centre County, and Logan and Green townships, Clinton County, Pa.
The collection consists of the manuscript book for the association listing the members in 1853 and 1858 and the number of horses each owned, the constitution and bylaws, and meeting minutes (24 August 1854-21 August 1880); and a printed version of the constitution and bylaws (Logansville, Pa.: Henry Held, n.d.).
