  • Records management provides uniform, effective, and systematic control over the creation, retention, disposition, and preservation of the University's records.

  • The University's Records Management Program is governed by University Policy AD-35.

  • Retention schedules with specific time periods for maintaining records within the office environment are included in the General Forms Usage Guide under Appendices 18 (General Records) and 21 (Financial Records).

  • Records management is primarily concerned with those records that are inactive that have legal, fiscal, adminstrative, research, or historical value.

  • Archival preservation of records with permanent retention requirements is provided by the University Archives.

  • Confidential records are identified and their disposition clearly specified.

  • All records created prior to 1965 MUST be reviewed by University Archives.
