Instructional Programs

Special Collections maintains a strong interest in teaching and working with instructors to help their students use Special Collections materials more effectively. Upcoming classes are listed on the What's New? page of this web site. Instructional sessions can introduce primary source research, teach how to search for Special Collections materials at Penn State or elsewhere, can focus on materials on specific topics or areas of interest.

Instructors interested in bringing a class to Special Collections or having one of our faculty or staff speak to their class should contact us as far in advance of the class as possible. Specific guidelines on planning instructional sessions can be found on our policies web page.

Special Collections faculty offer the three-credit course History/Library Studies 490, Archival Management, on an annual basis. Independent study classes and internships for credit may also be available.  Inquiries may be directed to our Reference mailbox.
