It has been decided that we will follow the following standards. The character limit of the vendor ID is 8. To distinguish between teams within the same ordering library we will use a dash between the code and the suffix, counting the dash as a character, i.e. HARRA-AP.
SIRSI allows you to search for your vendor in many different ways. In WORKFLOWS we can search by vendor id, vendor name or customer number. It is also possible to do truncated searches on the VENDID field utilizing the $ sign (e.g. A$ brings up a list of all vendors starting with the letter A). You can also search all vendors for a given library by typing ALL in the vendor ID field. Vendor Name is an implicit truncated search. Typing in Academic brings up vendors named Academic, Academic Book Center, etc. Use the exact match search symbol (%) to restrict search to particular word(s).
