Job Summary:

In a team environment, shares responsibility for ordering and receiving monograph materials in multiple languages and formats for University Park locations using Acquisitions Workflows system.

Primary Duties:

Initiate claims, pay invoices, searches, download and create bibliographic records in University Libraries online catalog (CAT), update CAT holdings, monitor select budgets and funds and communicate with University Park staff, faculty selectors and vendors to solve problems.

Required to learn various acquisitions procedures and to keep current with technical skills for operating within a variety of automated environments.

Search local, vendor and national databases and maintain statistics for work performed.

Analyze, manipulate, summarize and prepare bibliographic, financial, quantitative and qualitative data and reports relating to order placement, receiving and vendor performance to support departmental planning and management efforts.

Participate in a self-directed work team environment with shared responsibility and accountability for the team`s functions. Will also participate in group decision-making and operational policies and procedures through various representative groups.

Candidate Qualifications

Required:

Requires Associate`s degree in a technical or administrative program or equivalent, plus one year of work-related experience. Previous work experience must demonstrate accuracy, consistency and dependability in performing work assignments and in following detailed procedures. Keyboard skills and experience with Windows applications including Internet searching skills and networked databases also required. Experience in library procedures, knowledge of publication industry preferred.

Desired:

Desired skills include knowledge of a foreign language, understanding of Quality techniques, creative thinking, effective problem-solving, writing, good interpersonal communication skills and knowledge of HTML and Microsoft applications.

Hours are 8:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. (Some flexibility is available as long as the employee works up to the hour of 5:00 p.m. or after).
