When a main or added entry is obviously missing, refer. Note: LC CIP records frequently lack necessary access points. When the main entry changes, the cutter may be affected. Refer as necessary.
Delete initial articles from |p and |t subfields.
Do not remove |e - relator term subfield (e.g., |eeditor) if present on copy.
Compound surnames used to be given a first indicator value of 2. This is obsolete. Compound surnames now have a first indicator value of 1.
Older records may have 1XX indicator two as value 1, another obsolete practice, meaning that the main entry is the same as the subject. Before changing this indicator to blank, make a subject entry which matches the 1XX field.
Do not correct pre-AACR2 copy to current form.
