- General Information Fields 100 and 700 contain entries for personal names. Fields 110 and 710 contain entries for corporate names. Fields 111 and 711 contain entries for conference names.
- Processing Instructions Accept copy unless there is an obvious error in tagging.
When a main or added entry is obviously missing, refer. Note: LC CIP records frequently lack necessary access points. When the main entry changes, the cutter may be affected. Refer as necessary.
Delete initial articles from |p and |t subfields.
Do not remove |e - relator term subfield (e.g., |eeditor) if present on copy.
Compound surnames used to be given a first indicator value of 2. This is obsolete. Compound surnames now have a first indicator value of 1.
Older records may have 1XX indicator two as value 1, another obsolete practice, meaning that the main entry is the same as the subject. Before changing this indicator to blank, make a subject entry which matches the 1XX field.
Do not correct pre-AACR2 copy to current form.
