Rush Policy
  1. Hand carry rush
    • Identified by a bright pink flier with printed hand
    • Processing period: one to three working days
    • Cataloging level required: Full

    Items to be treated as hand carry rush are placed on the rush shelf by CatMarking and contain a bright pink Hand Carry Rush flier. Hand Carry Rush Flier

    Hand Carry Rush items are cataloged immediately and hand carried to the designated location in CatMarking or to the appropriate original cataloger if not fully cataloged.

    The types of items treated as hand-carry rush are:

    • University Park rush items
    • CCL rush campus-ship orders and source orders
    • Rush patron requests, accompanied by the electric green Request for In-Process Material flier
    • UP and CCL reserve location items for the current or next academic term
    • All CD-ROM items.
  2. Rush
    • Identified by plain bright pink flier
    • Processing period: no more than two weeks
    • Cataloging level required: Full

    Rush are placed on the regular processing trucks in the staging area.

    The types of items treated as rush are:

    • University Park reference items
    • Any UP item marked "Rush Catalog"
    • CCL reference locations
    • CCL rush surrogates
    • CCL in-hand rush items.
  3. Priority 1
    • Processing period: no more than one month
    • Cataloging level required: Full

    The types of items treated as priority 1 are:

    • CCL in-hand items
    • Non-rush reserve items
    • University Archives items
    • New Rare Books Room items.
  4. Priority 2
    • Processing period: not critical
    • Cataloging level required: no special limitations

    The types of items treated as priority 2 are:

    • New monographs, serials, films, and microforms
    • Microform indexes
    • CCL surrogates
    • Backlog quotas (Rare Books).
