University Libraries Cataloging and Metadata Services

The Serials Cataloging Team is one of six teams in Cataloging and Metadata Services, a department within Technical and Collections Services at the University Park Libraries. It is located on the 1st floor of the Paterno Library in room 126.

The Serials Cataloging Team returned to Cataloging and Metadata Services in November of 2004 after almost five years as a self-directed work team within the Serials Department, which subsequently was folded into Acquisitions. The serials catalogers will continue to work with closely with what is now Serials Acquisitions. The Team is responsible for cataloging journals and serials for most University Park and Commonwealth College locations. The most significant increase in cataloging workloads has been electronic resources.

The Serials Cataloging Team is also responsible for holdings management for many University Park and Commonwealth College locations. Holdings management includes added volumes, added copies, transfers, etc. Problem resolution (OOPS reports) is also a significant workload for the Team.
