Non-PSU Theses on Microfilm - Catalog and Transfer
Description: Out of a 4,000-title microfilm collection (currently housed in News and Microforms), 210 reels have been found that have no Cat record. This collection is a mixture of books and non-PSU theses. After cataloging, these reels are being transferred to the Annex.

Hershey-to-University Park transfer
Description: Approximately 900 volumes (103 titles) are being transferred from the library at Hershey to the libraries at the University Park campus. Some are going to be filling gaps in Pattee/Paterno, others are being sent to the Annex. Working from a list that will be provided, Cataloging will assign call numbers and change locations in the Cat. MARC holdings information and OCLC symbols will be updated by the staff at Hershey.

Description: Working from the print-out of a Sirsi-generated report, investigate why certain serial titles have a home location of "In Process," and take direct action to change this to an actual home location. Often involves consultation with and referral to other C&MS teams.

Barcoding Serials for the Google Project
Description: Affixing barcode labels to serial volumes that reside in the selector-identified call number ranges that are part of the Google project. Creating call number/item records for each of those previously unbarcoded volumes.

Microfilm F Periodical Reclass
Description: Reclassify Microfilm F periodicals using LC classification. Also involves barcoding each reel, adding call number/item records into the Cat for each reel, marking each box with the new call number, and sometimes replacing worn-out boxes and/or box labels.

International Labour Conference Report Cat. as Sep.: Phase 1
Description: The International Labour Conference report (which dates back to 1918) is currently treated as one large serial with numerous parts. It is classified under the International Docs call number of ILO 1.1:. Social Sciences would like this large title broken out into its smaller parts (which consist of both serials and monographs) and to have those parts cataloged separately, also using the International Docs classification system. This is a two-part project, with the monographs probably being referred to the Monographs team at some later date.

Abington-to-News and Microforms Library transfer
Description: Abington campus is transferring 45 titles in microfilm to the News and Microforms Library. In all but one case, these reels fill gaps in the existings holdings of News and Microforms records; in one instance, the title is not in the Cat and will need to be cataloged when it arrives. The records in the Cat and OCLC will need to be edited, (or created, and the reels will need to be barcoded and marked.

G-GN Stacks Transfer
Description: In mid-July 2008, titles classed G-GN were transferred from Paterno-3 to Paterno-2. The catalog records for these titles were updated globally to reflect this change at approximately the same time for all call numbers of the item type "BOOK." Apparently the system cannot make this change for item type "PERIODICAL," so the home locations need to be done by hand, as does editing of the 852c field in the MARC holdings record for each serial title.

PALCI Distributed Journal Archive Project
Description: Working from a spreadsheet provided by PALCI, determine and record Penn State's physical holdings for approximately 200 science journals. This completed spreadsheet will be needed for a PALCI meeting in early June 2008.

Chronicling America
Description: Original cataloging of more than two (2) dozen American newspaper runs that have been digitized by the Library of Congress as part of a project to enhance access to America's historical newspapers. The number of actual titles involved, when title changes are counted, is as yet unknown. Most likely these titles will be candidates for PSU's CONSER contributions.
