How
do I use the service?
- You
need to be a current Penn State faculty, staff of student.
- You
need to be registered with the Libraries.
The Libraries periodically supplies registered patron lists to ingenta.
You will not be albe to logon if your patron information was not
supplied.
You can register at any circulation desk at any Penn State library.
If you are registered with the Libraries and still cannot access
ingenta contact Interlibrary
Loan with your first and last name and your Penn State User
ID. ILL will contact you via email with an ingenta username and
password.
- Articles
are delivered by PDF download, email or fax.
Univ. Park patrons can use ILL's fax
number:
814-865-0071. Once ILL receives the faxed article, the article
will be posted electronically for you. You will receive an email
once it is posted.
- Go
to New to ingenta to learn how to logon
for the first time.
- Note:
The first time you log on, you are recognized by your Penn State
Access UserID. This is at the box "First Time Penn State Users,
enter your PSU Access UserID". Once in the database, you will create
a username (or ID) and a password for ingenta. We recommend that
you do not use your Access password.
What
can I order?
- You
can order articles with
in front of them.
- Articles
with
in front are blocked from ordering.
These articles are available in full text in other resources in
the library.
- Articles
that cost over $50 are blocked from ordering. You have the option
to pay with your credit card for these articles.
- Email
notification of cancelled orders will be sent to you when the order
remains unfilled for 10 days.
- Payment
method: Under "please select payment method" You will see Penn
State University selected. This means that the Libraries account
will pay for the article.
What
If?
- ingenta
is asking for credit card information?
Your profile is not attached to Penn State's account. Contact ILL
to get your profile attached. Provide ILL with your ingenta
logon. You will be notified by email when your account is working
properly.
- I
get "express registration" when I order even though I have my profile
set up
You were timed out by ingenta and need to start over.
- I
received poor copy or missing pages. Each order is accompanied by
a cover sheet which lists contact phone numbers and emails.
ingenta help desk: 1-800-296-2221.
ingenta email: help@ingenta.com
What
is the difference between ingenta and Gateway ingenta?
- Many
fulltext articles are availalbe through links to ingenta's collection
of online publications without going through the Gateway.
For example, through links from the CAT or through ingenta select.
- However,
if you select an article that has a cost and you did not enter through
the Gateway,
you will be asked to pay by credit card.
- Going through
the Gateway, which means first registering and
setting up a profile, will enable you to access more than fulltext.
- The Gateway
accesses older articles which are not availalbe for electronic download.
It also allows you to order articles not covered by subscription.
Orders through the Gateway are subsidized by the Libraries.
For problems
or questions, contact Interlibrary
Loan for assistance.
