Issues of Particular Interest
- providing a forum for the exchange of information and for
the discussion of developments and problems concerning digital
resources;
- coordinating the discussions of issues in such areas as acquisitions,
cataloging and classification, management, preservation, and use;
- establishing liaison for these areas of interest as appropriate
with other units within the Division (e.g. the Committee on Cataloging:
Description and Access, Preservation and Reformatting Section);
- developing programs in these and other areas as appropriate
that particularly contribute to and enhance an understanding of
digital resources: their identity, content, technology, and use;
- improving the bibliographic control of digital resources,
especially remote digital resources residing in computer information
systems and networks;
- supporting and actively participating in the development of
standard pertaining to the Committee's charge, reviewing and evaluating
proposed standards, and establishing liaison with concerned units
within the division, ALA, and relevant outside agencies (e.g.
NISO);
- encourage and fostering educational opportunities to learn about
digital resources, and promoting the development of curricular
and continuing education programs focused on developing the
needed knowledge, skills, and expertise to work with these materials;
- promoting research and publishing in areas related to the
Committee's interests;
- to work with other units within the division and ALA that
share common and related interest.
